Greater Accuracy and Patient Comfort
Instead of conventional impressions, after preparing your tooth for a crown Dr. Walpole uses digital scanning technology to make a virtual impression of your teeth. Studies have shown that digital scanning has a higher accuracy compared to conventional impressions., This means you get a better fitting crown through a quicker, more comfortable process! After the scan is complete, the permanent crown is designed on a computer via CAD/CAM technology and either milled or 3D printed right here in our office.
Uncompromised Aesthetics and Durability
Even in aesthetic cases, traditional crowns had metal substructures covered with porcelain. Crowns made this way often display a visible “dark line” near the gums in many patients when they smile. You won’t find this with our restorations. Instead of metal, our dental mill and 3D printer use super hardened, metal-free ceramics. These materials are both highly aesthetic and extremely durable restorations. In fact, some of the materials we use are so durable that they can withstand the force of a direct hit from a hammer!
